Countertop Impulse Display at the Cash Wrap

Published 30 August 2026 · 4 min read

The last metre should grab, not stall packing. A measured tray beats a second showcase on the wrap.

A countertop impulse display at the cash wrap is a tray, a riser, or a small acrylic well with a measured footprint. It is not a second showcase on the packing surface. Independent retailers in Thailand load the wrap because the last metre “should sell.” The shops that still pack in under a minute keep one tray, one SKU family, and a clear bag well.

Cash wrap planning is the workflow. This page is the last object on that top. If packing dies, the impulse object is oversized — full stop.

What belongs on the wrap

  • One family. Lip balm, a card, a small snack, a travel size — not all four. Beauty testers are not impulse; they belong on a tester counter — cosmetics.
  • A tray or riser with a back edge. So it cannot migrate into the card terminal.
  • Price on the object. Unpriced last-metre goods are a conversation, not a grab.
  • Nothing that needs a key. If it is locked, it is a case, not impulse.

Jewelry in a locked well on the wrap is a service pause, not an add-on. Jewelry showcases belong as their own fixture, not as a lid the cashier lifts between bags.

Footprint

Measure the wrap after POS, bag well, and returns land. The leftover rectangle is the impulse budget. If that rectangle is a phone-width strip, skip the display. A pile of hanging socks on a hook screwed into the fascia is not a specification.

Acrylic risers, a shallow tray, or a small spinner that does not spin into the queue. We do not publish millimetres as a universal kit. Depth of the wrap and which POS you run change the leftover. Put those on the quotation.

Display tables vs walls is the campaign story in the room. The wrap is not a second campaign table. One story in the shop, one last SKU at pay.

When to skip it

High-theft small goods with no staff at the wrap. A wrap that already packs large garments. A queue that already blocks the door — layout. Adding height at the cashier’s eye line in a mall unit can also fight sightlines the landlord wrote down.

Foreign owners: specify the leftover width in centimetres and the POS model in English so the tray is not guessed from a lifestyle photo — buying in Thailand.

Common mistakes

  • Showcase on the wrap. Packing stops.
  • Four categories. Nothing is a grab.
  • No price. The last metre becomes a pitch.
  • Tester bottles at pay. Hygiene and workflow both lose.

Quote a tray, not a second shop

Send wrap width, POS, and the one SKU family you actually want at pay. We will add a tray or skip it as a line on the same fixture quotation — Thai or English — so the last metre still packs.

Common questions

How many impulse SKUs belong on the wrap?
One family, a handful of faces. Four categories is a second shop on the packing surface.
Can I put a glass case on the cash wrap?
You can. Packing and the queue will pay for it. Specify a case as its own fixture instead.
Are testers impulse items?
No. Testers need a hygiene surface and a staff stance. Put them on a tester counter.
What if the wrap has no leftover width?
Skip the display. A hook on the fascia is not a specification. Sell the add-on from a wall or a table.
