Pegboard Displays for Small Packaged Goods

Published 30 August 2026 · 4 min read

Pegboard is a counted hook wall, not a boutique perimeter. Use it for blister packs and labelled rows; keep garments on slatwall hangrail.

Pegboard displays for small packaged goods are a dense, regular hook wall. Pegboard is excellent for counted SKUs that customers compare side by side — fasteners, craft, stationery, some beauty accessories, phone extras. It is a poor clothing wall and a poor “premium boutique” perimeter. The holes stay visible. The accessory range is narrower than slatwall.

Independent shops in Thailand reach for pegboard when they wanted supermarket density on a boutique budget. Use it as a niche, not as the hero wall facing the door. Slatwall vs gridwall vs pegboard is the family decision; this page is when peg wins.

When pegboard is the right system

Hook-dense blister packs, numbered rows, customers who shop by scanning a grid. Gift shops often need a peg bay for takeaway and a slatwall bay for selected goods. Phone-accessory and hardware-adjacent retail often live here entirely.

Pegboard loses for apparel hangrail, for a calm fashion face, and as the window wall. Garments look like stockroom overflow. T-shirts want faceouts, not a field of holes.

Gridwall is the cousin when you also need baskets and longer hooks with an open look. Pegboard wins when you want counted rows on a closed sheet.

Material and the room

Cheap board in humidity is a Thai-specific risk. Ask what the panel is, how edges are sealed, and what hooks match the hole pitch — same discipline as PVC vs MDF slatwall. We do not publish prices or load tests. Compatibility of pegs is the quote line.

Colour: white utility vs a finished colour that agrees with the rest of the shop. A raw brown peg wall in a boutique is a storeroom.

Layout

One niche, labelled, with hook length matched to pack depth so aisles walk. Do not cover every hole. Empty pitch is not a failure; over-merchandising is. Keep peg off the decompression zone — layout.

Common mistakes

  • Pegboard as the fashion wall.
  • Hooks into the aisle.
  • No labels. A grid without names is a puzzle.
  • Mixing slatwall hooks on peg holes. They will not seat.

Use peg for the counted wall, slatwall for the rest

Send the shop type and whether the dense SKUs are a bay or the whole shop. We will specify peg or grid as a niche on one quotation with the main wall system — Thai or English — instead of a hole wall in the window.

Common questions

Can I use pegboard for hanging clothes?
You can, and it will look like overflow. Use slatwall hangrail or a rack for apparel.
Pegboard or gridwall for accessories?
Peg for counted rows on a closed sheet. Grid when you need baskets, longer hooks, and an open look.
Will cheap pegboard survive Thai humidity?
Ask for the panel material and edge sealing on the quotation. Do not assume from a photograph.
Should pegboard face the shop door?
Usually no. Keep it as a labelled niche. The door sightline should be a story, not a hole grid.
