Endcap Displays in Small Shops

Published 30 August 2026 · 4 min read

An endcap is a story on a short face. In a boutique without a gondola, you probably need a wall story instead.

Endcap displays in small shops are a campaign on the short face of a bay — not a supermarket forest, and not leftover SKUs. Independent retailers in Thailand copy grocery endcaps because they look like “real retail.” In a 40 sqm boutique an endcap is usually the end of a short gondola you should not have bought, or a slatwall return that should be a story.

Gondola in small shops is when an island exists at all. This page is the end of that island — or the return of a wall run. Layout still wants one floor story.

What an endcap is for

A short face that greets a walk. Newness, a colour, a gift pyramid you will unbuild. Empty is better than leftover boxes. Price tickets still apply. Unpriced endcaps are not merchandising.

On a gondola the endcap is campaign. The sides are counted SKUs. If you do not have counted SKUs, you probably do not have a gondola.

On slatwall a return or an end panel can take a faceout group or a waterfall — not the size run, not a four-way jammed against the wall.

Not in the first two metres as a second door. Decompression stays empty.

Mall corridors often own the end of a bay that faces the common area — mall vs street, landlord. Get height and graphic rules in writing. Signage if the endcap is also a communicator — one message.

When to skip it

Apparel under 50 sqm with no island. Then you do not need an endcap; you need a wall story and a walk. Gift shops can use a table instead — gift checklist. Copying a Tesco endcap in a boutique is a costume.

We do not position as a minimart equipment house. If your shop is a convenience grid, say so so the list is honest.

Common mistakes

  • Leftover SKUs on the end.
  • Endcap plus four-way plus table.
  • Graphic on every end and every wall.
  • Tall endcap that hides the wrap.

What belongs on the quotation

  1. Whether an island exists — if not, skip this line.
  2. Endcap accessory list (shelf, faceout, graphic).
  3. Height vs sightline to the wrap.
  4. Ticket holders.
  5. Language of the document, Thai or English.

Send shop type and whether the centre is open. That is enough to specify a campaign face — or skip the grocery costume.

Campaign on the short face, or skip the island

If you are fitting a small shop in Thailand, do not buy an endcap until you have a reason for the bay. Send the shop type, the size, and the opening month through the fixture plan form. We will return one fixture schedule and one written quotation — Thai or English — covering the return, the wall, and the walk.

Common questions

Do I need endcaps without a gondola?
Usually no. Use a slatwall return or a table as the campaign. Do not invent an island for the endcap.
Should leftover sizes sit on the endcap?
No. Empty is better. Endcaps are campaign, not a clearance dump.
Can the endcap face the mall corridor?
Only if the landlord allows that footprint and graphic. Get the rule in writing.
Endcap plus a four-way in 40 sqm?
Pick one floor story. Two campaigns split the walk.
