Fixture Heights for Kids Apparel Shops

Published 30 August 2026 · 4 min read

Give the child a real pitch. Keep paying and replenishing at adult height. A compromise rail serves nobody.

Fixture heights for kids apparel shops must reach the child who shops and the adult who pays — split the wall, do not split the difference. Independent retailers in Thailand often set one “medium” hangrail so both can sort of use it. The shops that convert give the child a real pitch and keep adult browsing and paying at adult height.

This is not a playground. It is millimetres on the quotation. Hangrail height is the adult version. Double vs single hang is the density split. Kids’ garments are shorter; that is an opportunity for double hang at child reach, not an excuse for a rail in limbo.

Who the fixture is for

The child must see the garment and, if you want them to choose, reach a faceout or a lower rail. A rail at adult chest height is a wall of hems to a five-year-old.

The adult must still find size, price, and the wrap without crouching the whole visit. Putting the entire shop at child height punishes the person with the wallet and the staff who replenish.

Split the wall or split the room. Kids’ bay at child pitch. Adult or “mum and dad” edit at adult pitch. One rail “in the middle” is how nobody is served. Face-out vs shoulder-out: face the graphic for the child; pack the size run where the adult can scan.

Tables: a low touch surface for the child, not the only fold table — nested tables, tables vs walls. Fitting rooms still need adult-height hooks and a seat — fitting rooms. A step stool as the plan is not a specification.

When kids share a boutique

If kids are a side wall in an adult shop, do not lower the whole perimeter. Give them a bay with its own heights and a labelled edge so the adult shop does not look like overflow. What a 40 sqm boutique needs still wants a walk. A kids’ forest of faceouts in the decompression zone is still a mistake — layout.

Hats, bags, and shoes for kids follow the same sample-plus-storage logic at a lower ledge — hats, shoes.

We do not publish a universal kids’ millimetre. Age band, hem length, and floor finish change it. Write the heights per bay — Thai or English. Mall height caps still apply above you — landlord restrictions.

Common mistakes

  • One medium height for the whole shop.
  • Entire shop at child height. Staff and payers crouch.
  • Step stools as the hangrail plan.
  • Kids’ size run on adult four-ways.
  • No labelled split when kids are a bay inside an adult shop.

What belongs on the quotation

  1. Child pitch and adult pitch, named per wall.
  2. Single vs double per bay.
  3. Table height if there is a touch surface.
  4. Fitting-room hook height.
  5. Language of the document, Thai or English.

Send whether kids are the whole shop or a bay, and the age band you actually sell. That is enough to specify two pitches instead of one compromise rail.

Two heights, one walk

If you are fitting a kids or mixed apparel shop in Thailand, split the wall. Send the shop type, the size, and the opening month through the fixture plan form. We will return one fixture schedule and one written quotation — Thai or English — covering both pitches and the walk.

Common questions

Can one hangrail height work for kids and adults?
It can, and neither shops well. Split the wall or the room. Write two pitches on the quotation.
Should the whole kids shop be at child height?
The child bay yes. Wrap, staff replenishment, and adult edits stay at adult height.
Are step stools an acceptable hangrail plan?
No. They are a hazard and they are not merchandising. Set the rail where the child can reach.
How do I mix a kids bay into an adult boutique?
Give it its own heights and a labelled edge. Do not lower the whole perimeter.
