How to photograph a shop for a fixture quotation is walls, interruptions, ceiling, and door swing — photos that replace a site-visit guess. Independent retailers in Thailand send one beauty shot of the empty unit. The shops that get a usable quote send a walk of every wall, the soffit, and the door from both sides.
How to measure is the tape. This page is the camera. How to brief a quotation is the form. Landlord restrictions still belong in writing beside the photos.
What to shoot
Every wall, full length. Stand back so the camera sees floor to soffit. A cropped detail of slatwall is not a wall length. Corners and columns are interruptions — corner and column.
Door and swing. Open and closed. From inside and from the corridor if you have it. The first two metres are decompression — layout. A photo that hides the door hides the walk.
Ceiling and bulkhead. Air-con, sprinklers, lighting tracks, hanging points. Ceiling-hung vs floor cannot be specified from a floor-only photo.
Wrap location. Where packing will happen, even if the wrap is not built — cash wrap, queue space.
Floor finish and wet walls. If you already know a wall is wet, photograph the edge. Humidity is not visible in a dark corner crop.
A square-metre number in the caption is not a brief. Put millimetres on a tape in at least one photo per wall if you can — we still want the measure sheet.
Foreign owners: English or Thai captions are fine — buying in Thailand. We do not need a styled lookbook. We need the interruptions.
Mall handbook pages photograph well as extra files, not as a substitute for the unit.
What not to send as the only set
- One hero shot from the door.
- Product already merchandised, hiding the wall.
- Night photos with no wall length.
- Screenshots of a floor plan with no photos.
A floor plan helps. Photos of the real interruptions still win.
What belongs with the photos
- Shop type and opening month.
- Which walls can be drilled — or the landlord letter.
- Measure sheet if you have it.
- Ceiling photos if you want anything hung.
- Language of the quotation, Thai or English.
Send the walk, not the lookbook. That is enough to specify bays instead of guessing a clean rectangle.
