Toy Shop Fixture Checklist for Independent Retailers

Published 30 August 2026 · 4 min read

Kids need to see it. Adults need to walk and pay. Labelled density plus one table beats a boutique costume with boxes.

A toy shop fixture checklist for independent retailers is labelled density, a low touch table, and shelves that do not dump boxes into the walk — not a fashion hangrail as the hero. Independent toy and hobby shops in Thailand often copy a gift boutique or a supermarket peg wall. The shops that convert mix both: peg or grid for hanging smalls, sitting metres for boxes, and a table a child can see without turning the shop into a ball pit.

This is specialty retail, 20–60 square metres, not an indoor playground. Gift shop checklist is the cousin. Kids apparel heights if you also hang costumes. Pegboard is the counted niche.

The list

Do not add a centre gondola in under 50 sqm unless the walk still exists. Do not use pegboard as the window — window fixtures.

Layout: decompression empty. A dump of plush in the first two metres is not merchandising. Unpriced facing is not merchandising.

Adult collectors (hobby, model, figure) need adult-height shelves and maybe a case for high-value lines. We do not publish security ratings. Say the mix in the brief.

What to skip

Fashion faceouts as the hero. A playground of unfixed cubes. Open dump bins as the only system. A jewellery-style locked wall for every SKU.

Materials: rounded corners if children will bump. We do not invent safety certifications. Ask edge finish on the quotation.

Common mistakes

  • Boutique copy-paste.
  • No labels on pegs.
  • Table as storage of the whole delivery.
  • Every size of box on the lowest shelf in the aisle.
  • Wrap covered in hanging keyrings.

What belongs on the quotation

  1. Shelf vs peg split.
  2. Table height (child vs adult collector).
  3. Wrap size.
  4. Case only if high-value lines exist.
  5. Language of the document, Thai or English.

Send shop type (kids, hobby, mixed) and floor size. That is enough to specify a toy floor instead of a fashion floor with boxes.

Density a child can see, a walk an adult can use

If you are fitting a toy or hobby shop in Thailand, start with labelled shelves and a counted niche. Send the shop type, the size, and the opening month through the fixture plan form. We will return one fixture schedule and one written quotation — Thai or English — covering shelves, pegs, and the walk.

Common questions

Do toy shops need slatwall hangrail?
Only for costumes or hanging product. Most density is shelf and peg.
Pegboard or shelves for boxed toys?
Shelves for boxes. Peg or grid for blister and hanging smalls.
How low should the campaign table be?
Low enough for the child if kids are the shopper. Adult collectors need an adult surface. Write the height on the quotation.
Should high-value figures sit on open pegs?
If they need a key, specify a case as its own fixture. We do not publish security ratings.
